Our New Lebanese Banknotes

I finally got my hands on the new Lebanese banknotes (1,000 LBP, 50,000 LBP, and 100,000 LBP) which were issued on 24/02/11. They’re signed by The Central Bank governor Riad Salameh and the first deputy governor Raed Sharaf El Din.

What I especially liked about the new notes is that they’re also in marked in Braille (for the blind) on the bottom left of the Arabic sides:

Unlike blogger Najib and many others, I liked them! What do you think?

  1. Gotta hand it to you: these new banknotes feel like they have been colored by an amateur designer on Paint :S

Why aren't we developing simple and classy banknote designs that can actually reinforce our patriotic heritage (whatever is left of it, that is) similar to the old notes?

Call me nostalgic, but I would like to see the Raouche and Jeita grottos on my banknotes! :)

  3. Yeah, both 250,000LL & 500,000LL notes; I read about that a couple of months ago here: (http://www.nowlebanon.com/NewsArchiveDetails.aspx?ID=210542) but I heard it's not going to happen until at least next year
